Paolo Zanenga

Paolo Zanenga is an Italian engineer, author, lecturer and innovation strategist known for his pioneering work on complexity, knowledge networks and the relationship between organisational models and technological change.

His research and professional activity have contributed to the development of new ways of understanding organisations as adaptive ecosystems, in which knowledge, technologies, institutions and human agency interact to generate economic and cultural value.

Strategic Leadership and Ecosystem Development

  • President and Founder of Diotima Society and CEO of Diotima Institute: Zanenga provides cultural and strategic leadership across the Diotima ecosystem. He has guided its development as an international knowledge ecosystem exploring the epistemic, technological, economic and social transformations of contemporary society.

  • MetaTerritories and MetaDomains: his work has contributed to the exploration and development of these two interconnected concepts. MetaTerritories describe relational spaces produced by overlapping physical, digital and cognitive networks. MetaDomains provide systemic frameworks through which distributed knowledge, actors and technologies can interact, anticipate change and generate new forms of value.

  • The Transition Institute: as a Founding Partner, he contributed to its development as a permanent laboratory for advanced education, systemic design and innovation, established through a partnership between the Municipality of Genoa, the University of Genoa and Diotima Society.

Academic and Professional Activity

Zanenga has taught complexity, innovation governance and knowledge networks in master’s and doctoral programmes at institutions including Politecnico di Torino, Politecnico di Milano, Domus Academy, the University of Udine and Link Campus University in Rome.

He co-founded PDMA Southern Europe, the first European affiliate of the Product Development and Management Association, and founded TWG Consulting, through which he has led strategic innovation and international development projects for multinational companies and government institutions.
