Intesa Sanpaolo Accelerates AI Research with Launch of Centai Institute
Intesa Sanpaolo, one of Italy's leading banks, has unveiled the Centai Institute, an advanced research center for artificial intelligence (AI) based in Turin, Italy. The scientific committee of Centai is chaired by Mario Rasetti, a professor of theoretical physics at the Polytechnic University of Turin.
According to Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, President of Intesa Sanpaolo, the establishment of Centai is a step towards opening new paths in the field of AI, starting from Turin, the heart of the bank's digital and technological transformation.
Centai is 51% owned by researchers and 49% by Ca' de Sass, an investment company affiliated with the bank. The center was founded with the aim of combining advanced research and corporate implementation.
The institute will also focus on the ethical use of AI, as Paolo Benanti, who heads the ethics committee at Centai, highlighted.
Mario Rasetti said that the launch of Centai is an unprecedented collaboration between the banking and scientific communities, aimed at creating a new world in which banks are an ecosystem of services that make life more equitable, serene, and rich.
